Central Coast – Tomato Raised Bed

I’m a newbie gardener and I’m planning to plant some tomatoes this year. I’ve heard that raised beds are the way to go, but I’m not sure how deep to make them. I am on the Central Coast. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

    When it comes to raised bed depth for tomatoes here, your typical Aussie summer sun tends to bake the soil a bit, so I’d recommend going deeper than you might in cooler climates. Aim for 18-24 inches for most varieties, especially if you’re growing indeterminate types like those juicy Romas. Central Coast soil can be sandy in some spots, so don’t forget to mix in some good compost and organic matter like those delicious composted banana peels

    I plant my tomato plants here in Sydney in November in large 40 cm tubs.   1 per tub.  Nipping out the leaves in the axil helps their growth.  Your local nursery is the place to find out what to do on the Central Coast. Feed well
